Jacqueline Cochran world records Speed over a straight 15/25 km course: 2300.23 km/h date of flight: 11.05.1964 Speed over a closed circuit of 100 km without payload: 2 097.27 km/h date of flight: 01.06.1964 Speed over a closed circuit of 500 km without payload: 1814.37 km/h date of flight: 03.06.1964 May 11, 1964: At Edwards Air Force Base, California, Jacqueline Cochran flew a Lockheed F-104G Starfighter, 62-12222, to 1.400 miles per hour (2.300 kilometers per hour) over a straight 15 to 25 kilometer course. She was the first woman to fly faster than Mach 2 and set a new Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) World Speed Record. (FAI Record Number 13041) Cochran set three speed records with this F-104G in May and June 1964. Under the Military Assistance Program, the U.S. Air Force transferred the F-104 to the Republic of China Air Force, where it was assigned number "4322".
