manufactured by Group USA (ARGE-USA); flight test release May 7, 1962; assembly in Fighterbomber version according contract lot 7
flown with register number "171" for test flights; KF+146 airlifted to Germany on May 29, 1962 in a Canadair CL-44D airfreighter of "Flying Tiger Line" with 16 flight hours

planned for project "Loreley" as Fighterbomber (for JaboG 33) with Vulcan M61 20 mm machine gun installed and long range tanks as loose parts, but not performed

DR+101 with LPR 1 at Erding AB for project "Balance" (system upgrading to higher modification level)
DC+101 JaboG 33 on April 8, 1963; heavily damaged at Buchel AB on March 24, 1964 after take-off abort due to heavy nose wheel shimmy,
this resulted in a collision with a gully and crack of the main left landing gear; pilot (USAF instructor) was unhurt
aircraft was damaged beyond economical repair (DBR); struck off charge order (AVA) April 7, 1964; the aircraft became an instructional airframe (GIA) at Buchel AB; scrapped later.

Project "Balance": upgrade 19 F-104G with retrofit kits at LPR 1 at Erding AB and received DR+xxx codes with their old three-digit squadron numbers.
After the upgrade, these aircrafts either returned to their squadrons or directly to Manching for disassembly for the Columbus program.
