it opened on lift-off, and loose gear on top of the glare shield went down the scoops, he tried to clear the stall, but no way
the pilot was killed, he did not attempt to eject.

The 331st FIS participated in the "sonic boom" testing program at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1964 which led to the passing of a federal law, outlawing sonic booms over the USA main land.
