on June 3, 1958 it was reported that F-104A 56-773 had encountered an accident at Hamilton AFB. It made a precautionary landing right after take-off at Hamilton AFB due to a fire warning.
The afterburner burnt a hole in the fuselage It had been damaged but could be repaired later on. Pilot was "Scrappy" Johnson, temporary Squadron Cmdr, survived
