UF-104JA "575" drone JASDF 1995

F-104J, construction number 683B-3075, model 583-07-14, serial number 46-8575, built by Mitsubishi
first assigned to 5 Koukudan (Wing). Several F-104 were stored for several years,
due to airframe adjustment. This airframe probably stored this way. After 1977 to 206 Hikoutai.
Later 204 Hikoutai at Nyutabaru AB until about middle 1983. Later, 207 Hikotai at Naha AB; 1989 APW at Gifu AB

UF-104JA seen late February 1995 as 46-3575 and drone patch
target drone as 46-3575 shot down at firing range located near Iwo Jima island on March 21, 1995
After the undercarriage was damaged it was decided to shoot this 104 down by F-15J (AMRAAM).
Initially it was meant to fly back home.

Mitsubishi UF-104J/UF-104JA

The last duties for JASDF F-104J were to be unmanned target drones. Two F-104Js were modified to UF-104J experimental drones and tested by ADTW.
After that, a total of 14 Starfighters converted to UF-104JA target drone and all of them were shot down at firing range located near Iwo-Jima island, famous battlefield of WW2.
