F-104DJ "004" APW (Air Proving Wing) at Gifu AB July 1985 F-104DJ, construction number 583B-5404, model 583-10-17, serial number 26-5004, Lockheed built, reassembled by Mitsubishidelivered to the Japanese Air Self Defense Forces (JASDF) on August 8, 1962 first operational with 201 squadron of 2nd Kokudan; in 1970 it switched to 204 squadron of 5 Wing in 1980; to 207 squadron of 83 AG in 1985 September 9, 1984 at the Misawa AB air show, Aomori Prefecture, "004" wore front canopy numbered 26-5004, and rear canopy numbered 26-5010 It was put on storage at Gifu Air Force Base that year and was selected to be delivered to the Taiwanese Air Force under project "Ali Shan No.9"
returned to USA for FMS delivered by sea container and arrived at 1st Depot at Pingtung South AB for reassembly April 1986 MAP to ROCAF coded as "4592" under Project "Ali Shan No 9" to 7 Squadron of 427 Wing delivery in 1987 withdrawn from use and stored at 1st Depot at Pingtung South AB in 1992; scrapped in 1999. copyright © Grondstein collection
