F-104DJ "001" 207th Hikotai (squadron) of 83rd AG (Wing) JASDF in the 80s

F-104DJ, construction number 583B-5401, Model 583-10-17, JASDF serial number 26-5001, built by Lockheed
Lockheed built, initially serialed 16-5001, this was the first Japanese F-104DJ Starfighter; maiden flight in the USA on August 26, 1962
when it was delivered officially to the JASDF on September 21, 1962, its tail showed clearly "26-5001"
it was flown over to Japan inside a CL-44 airfreighter; aircraft already on February 8, that same year
the first operational years were flown with 201 squadron of 2 Wing; in 1970 it switched to 202 squadron of 5 Wing, from late 1970 201 Hikotai
in 1975 it switched back to 2 Wing, now with 203 squadron; late 70s or early 80s to 207 squadron (under the 83 AG)
it ended its career with this squadron in 1986; it was put on storage for a while until it was prepared to become a monument at the gate of Iruma AB
it was seen there for the first time in October 1989; preserved at Iruma AB near gate, 207 Hikotai marks
2003 stored in old car center at Naraha City, Fukushima Prefecture, October 10, 2004 noted, October 2010 last noted
the museum was closed due to the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident
5 years after the March 11, 2011 earthquake and Fukushima nuclear power plant accident Old Car Center Kudan reopened Saturday April 2, 2016; April 2023 noted.
