441 sqn "Silver Fox" "Checkerbird" was hurriedly painted sometime July 1979 for the Squadron Commander LtCol Larry Crab 1000th hour in CF-104s and permission had neither
been sought nor received from the people who were supposed to be asked also, the white paint was a home brew and they had the devil of a time removing it
first flight of the 441 Sqn Checkerboard (tail#785) was on July 30, 1979
struck off service July 24, 1983; airframe hours expired April 1984; on pole at CFB Baden-Sollingen 1983; after closure donated to city of Sollingen in 1993
displayed in city of Sollingen 2004 noted, (the aircraft looks very weathered) December 2014 noted; restoration in 2015; September 2023 noted.
