CF-104 "781" (12781) 1 Wing with the Vinten VICON underfuselage camera pod at CFB Marville, France 1965 CF-104, Canadair Model CL-90, Lockheed Model 683-04-12, Canadair construction number 683A-1081, RCAF serial number 12781, built by Canadairfirst flight May 7, 1962; taken on service by RCAF as CF-104 Starfighter s/n 12781 on July 11, 1962 after 14 flights with 19:25 flight hours, first unit 6 Strike-Recce OTU June 23, 1965 to SAL (SAL: Scottish Aviation Limited, Prestwick, UK); June 19, 1965 to Air Division with 1 Wing RCAF; December 31, 1965 at Marville in photo reconnaissance roll Dutch Air Force 306 Squadron, based at Volkel exchanged with the recce group within the Canadian 1 Wing 439 Squadron from Lahr in October 1969 crashed with 441 squadron of 1 Wing Lahr during low level mission (struck top of hill near Lyon, France ) on November 6, 1969 (CFIT), pilot ejection was not successful stuck of service November 12,1969. 781 became the first CF-104 to reach 1000 hours! copyright © CAF DND
