CF-104D "647" at Cold Lake during an engine check CF-104D, Lockheed model 583-04-15, Lockheed construction number 583A-5317, RCAF serial number 12647, Mk.1 (Dual Training Aircraft), built by Lockheedtaken on service as Mk.1 (Dual Training Aircraft) on April 5, 1963; first unit 6 ST/R OTU, later 417 squadron the original RCAF serial numbers for the CF-104 were changed in June 1970 crashed December 3, 1982 after midair collision with 104640 on a formation proficiency mission, pilot did not eject, 417 sqn Cold Lake 104647 was missing after a midair collision with CF-104 104640, from same squadron; the wreckage was found in and on Siebert Lake, Alberta on January 21, 1983 it was a fatal crash; struck of service November 23, 1983. copyright @ DND CAF
