CF-104 "862" CAF 439 squadron "Tiger" from CFB Baden-Sollingen passing Hohenzollern castle 1979 CF-104, construction number 1162, serial number 12862, built by Canadair first flight 12, December 1962, taken on service by RCAF as 12862 on January 13, 1964; first unit 1 Air Division Europe 12862 operated with 439 squadron 1970; reserialed as 104862 effective June 1970 wore a large grey "C" behind the flag and serial on tail for 441 Squadron's team during Tactical Air Meet'78 at RAF Wildenrath Germany, June 1978 full-color tiger scheme as 439 Squadron's participant in the 1979 "Tiger Meet" at BA.103 Cambrai/Epinoy, France Canada won the Silver Tiger Trophy that year for the best colored Tiger aircraft; withdrawn from use on January 16, 1986 and given to Turkeyit was originally intended to be used as a source of spares; but was returned to flying status with serial number 62-862 until 1994 donated to Pakistan; on a pedestal at Pakistan Air Force Museum, Karachi-Sharea Faisal was a gift from Turkey and is displayed in a nose high attitude sporting the Turkish Air Force markings 2002 coded "8-862" first noted; January 1, 2004 noted; March 2018 noted; in March 2020 taken down and damaged, status unclear. 24°52'11.98"N 67°5'38.64"E - gone! copyright © Grondstein collection
