F-104J "620" 204 Hikotai landing at Nyutabaru AB in May 1984 F-104J, construction number 683B-3120, model 683-07-14, JASDF serial number 46-8620, built by MitsubishiMitsubishi built; delivery date September 16, 1964; first to 202 Hikotai of 5 Wing; next to 205 Hikotai of 6 Wing; in 1972 to 207 Hikotai of 7 Wing in 1984 to 204 Hikotai of 5 Wing at Nyuutabaru AB; August 7, 1984 it crashed into sea, at 10:40AM local time, near Hyuganada after take-off from its home base Nyuutabaru AB. It was the last operational Japanese Starfighter loss. The accident was caused by an engine stall during intercept training.
