delivered to the Japanese Air Self Defense Forces (JASDF) on August 8, 1962; first operational with 201 Hikotai of 2 Kokudan; in 1970 it switched to 204 Hikotai of 5 Wing
September 9, 1984 at the Misawa AB air show (Aomori Prefecture) "004" wore front canopy numbered 26-5004, and rear canopy numbered 26-5010
with 204 Hikotai seen in November 1984 at Komatsu AB; to 207 Hikotai of 83rd Air Group in 1985; March 4, 1985 to APW at Gifu Air Base and used for training test pilots at Gifu AB
to 207 Hikotai of 83 Air Group in December 1985; put in storage at Gifu Air Base in 1986; withdrawn from use April 18, 1986
delivered to the Taiwanese Air Force in 1987 under Project "Ali Shan 9", where it received serial "4592"; it started its career with 7 TFS of 3 Wing
in October 1989 noted with 7 TFS at CCK AB; written off and stored August 1996 at 1st Depot, Pingtung; scrapped.
