F-104G of AMI painted overall "white" in the early days The first F-104G delivered to AMI were left in natural metal with the white anti-radiation paint on the wings and the upper part of the fuselage. F-104 were painted white to help reduce the effects of nuclear detonation, which means the heat portion, the white reflecting the heat better than natural metal. For a short period this provisional white finish was given for the first 12 aircraft produced by FIAT. copyright © Riccardo Niccoli
